Construction of third production hall under way

We are continuing to invest in the Amerang site: in summer 2019 the go-ahead was given for work to commence on the construction of a third production hall at our approx. 50,000 m2 premises. From an architectural point of view, it will be designed and constructed in the same way as the other two existing production halls and will also boast approx. 3,000 m2 of floorspace. A total of 14 injection moulding machines were ordered in June 2019, six of which will be added to the fleet in production hall 2. The remaining eight machines will be put to work in the new production hall 3 as from February 2020. Two of the new injection moulding machines have a clamping force of 45,000 kN, which is equivalent to a pressure of 4,500 tonnes. The largest injection moulding machine measures 24 m x 5 m x 4 m and therefore occupies almost the entire width of the hall. Machines of this magnitude will enable us to also manufacture large products, such as our large load carriers and pallets, on site at our technology park for the first time ever. The hall is scheduled to be completed in December 2019.

Record turnover, new investments and additions to the leadership team

In the last financial year, for the first time ever in the company’s history, AUER Packaging’s total turnover exceeded the magical number of EUR 100 million. This is an impressive increase of 23.5% compared to the previous year. What's more, the company is optimistic about 2019 too.

One of the reasons for this is a huge order from Volkswagen AG. It is the largest single order that AUER Packaging has ever received. As part of the agreement, all plants Europe-wide across the entire VW Group will be supplied with AUER containers.

A lot is happening on the investment front too as a new warehouse is currently being built at the Amerang site. It will increase storage capacity in the future by an extra 6,300 m2 of usable floorspace. As from spring 2019, eight lorries will be able to be loaded and unloaded at the same time at numerous loading bays there. Plans are currently under way for a third production hall as well as injection moulding machines. In addition, seven injection moulding machines, which have recently been delivered, are currently being set up and will significantly increase production volume of Euro and KLT containers when they come on stream in mid-March.

The leadership ranks were expanded in January 2019 in order to create the optimum conditions to ensure future growth for the company and meet any related challenges head-on. New members were appointed to the leadership team with responsibility for four central key areas: Katharina Stoiber (30) is responsible for Finance, Monika Schmid (26) is in charge of Sales, Michael Wenninger (28) is responsible both for Administration and Training & Further Training, and Sergej Andert (30) has been appointed to the leadership team with responsibility for Production.

Construction work for new warehouse

The construction of the new warehouse at our Amerang site is coming along nicely. The concrete foundations have already been laid and work has already begun on constructing the building’s shell. The new warehouse will increase Auer’s storage capacity by an extra 6,300 m2 of usable floorspace. In the future, the products manufactured on site will be temporarily stored in the warehouse prior to being shipped. The impressive dimensions mean that the company's logistics needs will be met for several years to come: once all the work has been completed, eight lorries will be able to be loaded and unloaded at the same time at several loading bays. The investment involved amounts to approximately EUR 7 million. According to the schedule, the building’s shell will be completed by December 2018, and the first lorries loaded with goods should start rolling out in spring 2019.

Further sales growth

For the twelfth year in a row, packaging specialist AUER Packaging recorded above-average sales growth in 2015. Turnover increased by a further 10% compared with the previous year (€76 million), reaching €84 million at the end of the fiscal year. AUER Packaging anticipates another year of record turnover for the next fiscal year at around €90 million. Repeat large-scale orders from car manufacturers such as VW, Audi and BMW, as well as Robert Bosch, Schaeffler and MAN, are making a key contribution to fuelling continued company growth.

Construction work on another production hall and on a logistics hall with fully-automated high rack storage started in summer 2016. As stated by Robert Auer, “The expansion of production capacities on the Amerang site represents an important milestone in our continued growth.”

Further expansion of production capacity

AUER Packaging continues to grow: In June 2015, another production hall with an area of around 3,000 m² was commissioned at the Amerang site. This means AUER Packaging now has a total covered hall area of around 56,000 m².

In the long term, 14 injection moulding machines will provide additional production capacities in the new production hall. At present, the Amerang plant focuses on the manufacture of thin-wall food packaging. Further expansion of this site is already in the planning phase.

AUER Packaging expands its capacity

In December 2013, AUER Packaging announced the purchase of the entire Technology Park site in Amerang. The prestigious building complex was built in 2002 on a plot measuring almost 50,000 square metres for an international electronics company. The architecture and furnishings are suitably spacious and of a high standard of quality. The headquarters of AUER Packaging, with their own showroom, have already been situated in the main block of the Technology Park for many years.

With the purchase of the whole site, the up-and-coming Bavarian firm is unlocking additional production capacity with very short distances between the production facilities and the sales and administrative departments. In the future, new product lines can also be manufactured under cleanroom conditions in the new halls.

AUER Packaging invests in customer satisfaction

Due to a rapid growth in orders, AUER Packaging needs to expand its resources in order to meet the increasing global demand for high-quality plastic containers. To this end, the Amerang-based company recently announced that it had ordered four new state-of-the-art injection moulding machines. Company founder Robert Auer and CMO Philipp Auer see these purchases first and foremost as an investment in service quality. The additional production capacity will significantly reduce delivery times and allow for an even faster response to customer requests.

Over the past few years, AUER Packaging has continuously been able to achieve double-digit growth rates. According to the two managers, this has largely been due to the successful expansion of its worldwide distribution and the introduction of new products specifically in its best-selling ranges.

AUER is once again a “Top Business Partner”

Following on from AUER Packaging being awarded top marks by the Hoppenstedt Group for its credit rating in 2012, the Amerang-based company was once again given straight As by Hoppenstedt in 2013. Of the 4.7 million companies investigated, only an exclusive circle of 4.8% achieved this top rank – yet more proof of the strong economic performance and successful business strategy of AUER Packaging.
